An Aflatoun workshop was held in Lima, Peru from 21 – 24 Junel as part of the Ministry of Education’s strategy of integrating financial education in the national curriculum. The workshop – titled Active Teaching Methodology for Financial Education – was attended by teacher trainers from Ministry of Education, financial inclusion experts from the Central Bank’s Superintendency of Banks and Insurance (SBS) and staff from local partner organization Visión Solidaria (VISO). It had been organized by Maria del Pilar Biggio Pastor from the Ministry of Educación and Mariana Zarate from VISO. The workshop was designed to help participants design content to be integrated into Peru’s national curriculum.
At pre-primary and primary levels financial education will be combined with one subject area called ‘Personal-Social’. In secondary it will be unfused across three subjects: ‘Personal-Social’, ‘Citizenship’ and ‘History, Geography and Economy’.
