Related to #Advocacy - are there any up to date advocacy Powerpoints I could use in a stakeholder meeting next week, reflecting the more peruasive and impactful wording and communication we are starting to see?

JOYCE ELEMSON Hi Hitul, though a fairly new member based in the UK, are there provisions to train qualified members to further advance Aflatoun's interests here in the UK? Your response will be appreciated.

Ana Luis Correia Rodrigues Hi Joyce, hopefully you were already in touch with Hitul. If not let us know how we can help.

Hi there - is there evidence on the benefits of a child/youth centred teaching style? I would love to be able to quote and refer to it.

Menno Aflatoun Hello Hitul,
Our research manager, Daniel Shephard, gave some good feedback on your question :

There are many ways for people to frame ‘child centred’ learning;
One example is ‘collaborative learning’ which you can find summary evidence here: http://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/toolkit/collaborative-learning/

The other good resource for the different impact of various classroom styles is Hattie’s book which has a graphical summary here (which I haven't double checked against the book but looks accurate on the surface).
http://visible-learning.org/hattie-ranking-influences-effect-sizes-learning-achievement/ . In this list see especially:
• Reciprocal teaching
• Self-verbalization/self-questioning
• Problem-solving teaching
• Cooperative vs. individualistic learning

Paul Moclair Hi Hitul. Sorry for the long delay in replying. I'm currently looking for research explaining why Ministries of Education are not always successful when they try and introduce learner-centered education in schools. I'll email you anything of relevance to your enquiry I find in the next week.

Adwoa Sey Paul, i am also interested in this so please keep me in the loop. Thanks

Hi all. I thought I'd share our latest blog post on a new law in the UK which makes forced child marriage illegal.

Do let me know your thoughts and experiences

Many thanks!
